Butterfly Effect

We are living in uncertainties
Sliding open the half-closed door
Leading to catastrophes

I saw a ray of light as I reach the end
In deafening silence I survive

I'm still alive
Isn't it a miracle? Isn't it a miracle?
The untrodden way I've chosen
Not knowing what would happen
So don't ask how the story ends

Think twice before blowing a kiss to me
'Cos this would bring both hopes and fears
Anaesthetised perpetually

I saw a ray of light as I reach the end
In deafening silence I survive

I'm still alive
Isn't it a miracle? Isn't it a miracle?
The untrodden way I've chosen
Not knowing what would happen
So don't ask how the story ends

I'm still alive
Isn't it a miracle? Isn't it a miracle?
The untrodden way I've chosen
Not knowing what would happen
So don't ask how the story ends

Careful at where I stand
Daren't even wave my hands

Butterfly Effect has only one chord progress: E G#m C#m A A... but Cheong has put some magical drum work to make it very colourful. One of the most poppy songs I'd ever written in the early days. The persona in the song is afraid of changes in life ¡V afraid of the outcome brought about by a slight change of things. I found a lot of references in the lyric: film, poetry, philosophy, theories and even other songs. You can find them yourselves!
